## Context for the climber

Gifts overplayed become offenses.

This chapter is a monomyth cairn on the Leaving Scotomaville climb (Volumes 1–3). Later Initium cards and AISM answers inherit its lived evidence — not the other way around.

## Print evidence

Print chapter text lives in the full trilogy PDF (Onus Probandi). This deposit prioritizes the **filmed/spoken transcript** so AISM cites clean carbon voice without OCR wrap artifacts. Open the PDF when you need page layout, spreads, or exact print wording.

SCOTOMAVILLE: 01.13 Strengths Offender

I think that mirroring or mimicking or being able to gain value from a mentor is to be able to see them in real life situation. So I'm gonna take the trash out. It's not that I'm going to quote 'blow off steam' or I'm trying to figure out what's at the root of my trigger, what's at the root of my woundings that I would be feeling so much turmoil. I'm actually taking the trash out to celebrate an achievement.

Last night we moved up and found out that Bambi wasn't feeling so good and that the black tank read 100%. Think about it. You ever had a black tank overflowing in a 19 foot Bambi? Yeah. I didn't sleep very well because I was thinking about how am I gonna tear the toilet, 'the head' as we call it in the Navy, tear the toilet seat and all that apparatus apart when the black tanks at 100%. And today it's gonna be 97 degrees, so the air conditionings on inside meaning it's ..(indistinguishable) I'd have to get up really, really early in order to do what I just finished doing. So fortunately it was a misreading on the sensor but I was able to clean and maintenance all of the toilet mechanisms and find out where some of the scum was and clean all that and that was disgusting!

Time to do a little affirmation. I think I did really well, Daniel. You did right? Man, you got your face right down into the middle of that black hole and scrubbed it out. You did a good job! You didn't bitch, you didn't moan, you didn't complain, you didn't feel put on, you didn't uh.. yeah, you did a really good! Good job there buddy!

Welcome back to a fabulous day in Scotomaville! Yeah, you like the Hat? It's my Soaring Society of America, you know glider pilot hat -keep the sunburn off my head thing. Today we're gonna talk about 'strengths offender'. That's a bit to get your head wrapped around. We're gonna talk about how the thing that makes you-you, that strength that you have persevered to develop, to create your identity, to find some anchor of who you are known as, that very thing that gives you value in the market? Your strength! How to find it, and then how to slay it! Because, you see, it turns out that your strength is actually a coping mechanism from your childhood wounds.

And here comes the sheriff's helicopter. [Music] [Music] I took an assessment over a decade ago, called the Clifton Strengths Finder Assessment. Go to Google, search for the Clifton Strengths Assessment and then pick any one of the Gallup websites. Make sure that you do the Gallup one, not some of these other secondary websites. But you'll find the Gallup store is a top five Clifton Strengths for 20 bucks. And these are all the things that you get for it. What's included, how it works, FAQ is here.

It essentially records your reactive behavior. You know, the first and fastest answer for a whole series of questions. The reason you want to take the assessment is not because you don't know what your strength is. It's just to help you affirm it, and sort of dial it into some words that give you distinction about it. The reason why it's so important to know your strengths is not for you. It's for everyone around you! Because, it's how you offend everyone around you. The very thing that , bla bla bla bla bla, building more websites than any other human that I know of. Those things, those accomplis, they're what I consider normal. That's highly unusual.

Your strengths will also set the bar so high for everyone around you that that's how you offend everyone! And your normal is way above everybody else's! So it's not what we find out about ourselves, our strengths. It's what we don't know. It's that scotoma about our strengths. It's that our strengths are exactly how we wear other people out, how we wound them! It's how I get that glazed look over everyone when I tart start tarking..start tarking..talking..oh, that's an Asperger moment!

When I start talking, I get a glazed look over people's faces! I'm just being me! I'm just being normal! It's way too much information for most people! Achiever, input learner, that's the Vulcan mind-meld! That's unfair to do to everybody but it's my normal. So to find out about what your strength is, take the assessment. How do you think an achiever-input-learner would deal with the lockdown of a global pandemic? Well of course, I'd have to create a video series and using whatever tools I have, try to help someone else learn something incredible!

Those are my strengths and they are undoubtedly offending some people..and maybe more than a few. But they are who I am and I'm glad to share them with you. What a wonderful day to leave Scotomaville.

The unfortunate part of knowing your strengths is that you're gonna start seeing them emerge all the time. They will be your obstacles, the challenges, the very things that frustrate the dickens out of you. For me, I want to get things done in less time then that's gonna take, to get them done. I want to go further, higher, do more, get more, because that's where-in my childhood-where I was affirmed to have value.

So out of those things that were dysfunctional in my family of origin, I formed beliefs that my only value came from being able to do! Not who I became, who I am. It was what I DID for others and with others that gave me meaning and purpose and identity. So whenever I get frustrated, whenever things aren't going as I wish, I just get more leverage, I just press a little harder, I just try to get more done in less time. So I speed up my words, other people can't understand me as well and I quite easily start frustrating and offending people.

Yeah, it's great, during a global pandemic, that I can come out and shoot a video series. This is actually giving Angelina time away from me, so I can dig in and scrub a toilet and fix it before it breaks. That's an achiever. That's how I can easily offend other people. And that's part of getting out of scotomaville, is to find out what your strengths are and how they're being used to wound others and how they betray your own growth.

Learning new ways of coping with things, learning new skills and not relying on the things that you have tens of thousands of hours of practice with. tT%hat's a tough one. It takes a lot of time, a lot of effort, a lot of episodes of being triggered and taking the trash out and going for a walk and peeling the onion and figuring out where it came from. And then changing that belief into an adult belief. And then allowing those myelinated sheaths to rebuild into new pathways, into new beliefs and then for that to become new habits where the reactions are now ones that that YOU have designed!

Well that just said a lot! There's a whole pattern in there, of what you can do when you know your strengths. So invest the twenty bucks, go take the Clifton Strengths Finder Assessment. Find out what you already know about yourself, but get the 'distinction' of a label for your top five strengths.

From that, we can start walking down all of these pathways with these tools, to discover the hundreds of ways that those strengths are being used to mask a lack of self-esteem or a shortfall of confidence or to cover up for fears, anxieties, things that you don't want to face, that you may not have the tools to address. We just throw our strengths at it and that's how we wound most of the people around us.

The frustration that I most voice, has to do with my strengths. My achiever: "We should have been in our new Airstream four to five weeks ago!" And I can't do it. It's out of my control. Everything I can muster is not enough. So it becomes my own torment, the very thing that stirs me up the most inside, is that I can't actually use my strength to produce a different outcome. It doesn't work. I think it has something to do with 'when the student is ready, the teacher will appear'..right?

The experience I need the most, to learn from, is right here in front of me. That I can't use my strengths to dig my way out of a global pandemic and deliver a 30-foot Airstream, even though it's sitting in the warehouse. So I have to be patient and wait. Not something I'm good at doing. And I hope that encourages you. Grab a hold of the opportunities as they come and don't push harder or on your strengths. Accept the opportunities that are there to teach you, as I am doing now.

We're talking about strengths. Mine: achiever, input learner, belief, activator.

Dan: "Alright, what do you see the value of those are in my business life, for the market?"

Angelina: "Well, you are so focused and determined to produce a product and you do not give up when it gets hard. And when we refine our product to bring to the market for many people to benefit from on a huge scale, more so than anybody we've ever known, this product, then, that works for us in business. That works for me in business."

Daniel: "Okay, so I've been useful for twenty years of clicking. Now I take that same strength and roll it over to the Airstream, our house, our vehicles, our sports equipment. And what does that mean?

Angelina: "That means that the house is clean, meals are good, the truck stays beautiful, and that works for us, too!"

Daniel: "That same set of strengths, in our personal relationship?"

Angelina: "If not throttled, it can offend and good intentions sometimes means that you may ratchet up your strengths intending to help something so positive about it and you offend them in the process. They didn't need your help after all. Or if I say something out loud, Daniel thinks I wanted him to fix it.

oh I was just talk here's a big one she was just talking what was one of them I don't remember water bottles no if I talk about something that I'm thinking of that I'm looking for he assumes that I'm asking you know hit nudge nudge hey honey what about the blow but but flipbook at night 10 minutes later it's done if I needed you to look for it I'd ask you to look for it or fix it right or give a hint instead of Google hint I'm direct but he takes it as right so this is

"What I'm trying to get at: your strengths are coping mechanisms that come from your wounds. We look for opportunities to utilize them because of the oxytocin, because of the feedback loop that we get. We rely on 'attaboys' for our self-worth."

Angelina: "As you just said, coping mechanisms come from wounds. When you were growing up if you didn't think ahead of what your parents want you to do you got in trouble which was not your fault and that sucked as a child and I'm sorry you went through that

Daniel: "I learned to look for things that needed to be done therefore I went to do them before asked. In high school when all the cheerleaders needed a ride home they's shout "Hey Dan, come and work on the senior float. They didn't want me to work on the float. They wanted me to be there for go get a pizza, and to let them use my car."

Angelina: "That is where strengths can be abused People take advantage. You become labeled for that strength and people pull that and they'll befriend you to acquire your strength. You may not know it because they're really good on how they do that - especially if they're strong in strategy

Daniel: "You have to know this, especially if you go to the Internet. Others are looking for you. They're trolling for people like you - with your strengths."

you're three three of the top five strengths are futurist strategy command and I'm Maximizer in responsibility essentially General Patton remember in a tank you over there go I'm a nice general so is he won a lot of worse but he wasn't alright what's your point I already told him achiever learner input belief activator so I'm getting more done than any human cannonball can mind-meld a so the point of these is once we know what our strengths are and what our partners are sorry when we know what our mate and our partners strengths are then we're able to pull back when necessary which is most of the time and spot when people are taking advantage of us and and honor each other in recognizing how the strengths are a positive and maturing into learning how to throttle them over time and that takes each other and telling each other to throttle as well and for me every single trigger that I can recall of my life had something to do a tangent a parallel a touch point a intersection a somewhere it crossed on one of my strengths and every single time I find that I want my norm my strengths my norm right to be the standard by which everything happens so we got a pandemic I'm not achieving in the ways that I wanted in the goals that we set so I start time gonna take the trash out can't get this done I have to wait for what who when oh my gosh again do you ever refine strategy futurists command to be where your triggers are I have more strategies to create no so you can just drop a strategy and go to the next one so there's always another strategy and knowing and another vision and another set of responsibilities to ensure certain things are done so I'm continually shifting right you go how to people around you and they look at you they go oh oh my god sure always shifts this and that always going somewhere else no they don't you do because I'm still trying to get the last three finished all right is there any hope for them for getting out of scotoma Louisville yes absolutely go take restraints binders okay strength finders 2.0 calm I've already given them a tool thank you for sure where are you going Mike there she goes
