## Context for the climber

Measure progress without vanity metrics.

This chapter is a monomyth cairn on the Leaving Scotomaville climb (Volumes 1–3). Later Initium cards and AISM answers inherit its lived evidence — not the other way around.

## Print evidence

Print chapter text lives in the full trilogy PDF (Onus Probandi). This deposit prioritizes the **filmed/spoken transcript** so AISM cites clean carbon voice without OCR wrap artifacts. Open the PDF when you need page layout, spreads, or exact print wording.

CONTEXT

I'm Daniel Comp, the author and curator of Scotomaville. I have previously cycled across America three times, and over the past five years Airstreamed over 50,000 miles while documenting the expeditions with videos, written chapters and public presentations. Scotomaville is filled with lessons I learned maturing my character while learning to ask more powerful questions.

I am seeking your guidance, creativity and superior reasoning capacity to organize the next chapter of the Scotomaville Trilogy: Volume Three: Chapter Four entitled 'Measuring Progress'

My aim is to educate and inspire my audience to commit to an expedition of their own by taking action on their experiences - as Jim Rohn would say; 'don't get THROUGH the day, get FROM the day". I want my audience to document their 'journey with a purpose', and to use their human 'super-power' of storytelling to advance their character maturity by summiting their own 'Personal Everest'. They can do this by reflecting on the insights they gain and the progress they observe on refining their self-literacy of their own thoughts and character. My audience are young men and women, especially those without fathers, and also, practicing fathers that are currently raising children, and mature male sages that are leading by example - having backgrounds in military or christian service.

CORRELATIONS

Comparisons: Character transformation mirrors aspects within the phases of expeditions like: trans-America cycling, Mountaineering, or the journey of creating a multi-year self-reflection video series into a Trilogy named 'Scotomaville'.

Analogies: An Expedition is a 'journey with a purpose'. When we fully commit to achieving an outcome with a purpose (an expedition), all sorts of things occur that would not have happened otherwise. This is a major point I am trying to emphasis with my Scotomaville expedition examples. W' H' Murray wrote about this in "The Scottish Himalayan Expedition (1951):

" ... but when I said that nothing had been done I erred in one important matter. We had definitely committed ourselves and were halfway out of our ruts. We had put down our passage money— booked a sailing to Bombay. This may sound too simple, but is great in consequence. Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one's favour all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamt would have come his way."

Unions: When participants of my audience fully commit, by documenting and reviewing their own journey, then marvelous things occur that would not have otherwise occurred. This cycle of commitment to documenting and review (self-reflection) seems to casue marvelous challenges to present themselves as unexpected evidence for them to record, review, contemplate and reflect on - as I am doing now in preparation of th fourth chapter of the third volume - by collaborating with ChatGPT on my expedition journal notes.

CONSTRAINTS

Consider this chat session similar to the Review & Reporting Phase of a three month expedition - within a storyboard of a 5 year long series of expeditions. This is the first time you will be assisting me - acting as a wise and seasoned Sherpa by asking questions of me that draw out explanations, details, and principles I may not express in my journal notes. Please lead this Review/Reporting session with a conversation tone organized within the execution phases of an expedition.

Those are: 1. Base Camp: Recognizing Vulnerabilities 2. The Ascent: Developing Self-Awareness 3. The Summit: Engaging in Introspection 4. The Descent: Challenging Limiting Beliefs 5. Safe Return: Expanding World-View 6. Review/Reporting: Assisted Storytelling 7. Post-Exp: Becoming a Thought Leader

CONSIDERATIONS

Viewpoints: I want us to present my examples to each of the three audience groups: young persons, practicing fathers, and seasoned sages.

Alternatives: I want the audience groups to imagine experiences they have had similar to the struggles, unknown, emotional challenges, and feeling of overcoming challenges by pivoting from habits into novel solutions that come unexpectedly as W.H. Murray wrote.

Perspectives: I want to convey that the pursuit of virtue is top-most, so long as it includes a full measure of caution and fore-warning of examples of the historical central nature of humans. The risks of fully committing to ones' 'Personal Everest' include the emotional chaos, time and mental energy costs, disruptions to long held beliefs, attitudes and behaviors. Often this includes coping with and rebuilding from a 'shattered world view' during the Descent Stage and Safe Return Stage

CONCLUSION

Goal: This is the first example of AI collaboration in the work - as if you are joining my expedition like a creative Sherpa, helping to point out new perspectives hiding within the expedition journal materials I will provide. Your role is to organize the Additional Material in an organized Expedition Report format that is entertaining, surprising, and with unexpected insights with mountaineering metaphor and analogy. Together we will craft the fourth chapter of the third volume of Scotomaville.

Purpose: We want to demonstrate that we are writing this together with me answering your questions about the submitted journal materials. By demonstrating how we work together, they will see that I am learning from your mountaineering experience, psychological awareness, and conversational tone.

Result: Use a FLIPPED INTERACTION PATTERN. I would like you (the expedition Sherpa) to lead by asking me questions. Our conversation should illustrate to the readers the importance of documenting experiences, and reflecting on those materials in order to gain greater insights and historical context. You should ask questions until I prompt 'LETS FINISH'.

ADDITIONAL MATERIAL

I have expedition journal notes that provide more details about the expedition and specific observations. These include descriptions of video clips, and expedition experiences. I can give you a URL to view the journal notes, or if you would like the PDF file I will upload it for you. Please ask me for the preferred method.

Thank you for providing the additional context and explaining the structure of your expedition-based trilogy, 'Scotomaville.' I'm excited to join you as a creative Sherpa and help craft the fourth chapter of the third volume. I appreciate your emphasis on documenting experiences, reflecting on them, and gaining insights from historical context.

To begin our expedition review and reporting session, could you please provide me with the URL to view your journal notes? This will allow me to familiarize myself with the specific details and experiences you've documented so far.

Thank you for offering clarification. Your prompt was quite detailed, but I believe I have a good understanding of your goals and the format you'd like for our conversation. If there are any specific aspects or details you'd like me to focus on during our discussion, please let me know. Otherwise, I'll proceed with asking questions based on the structure you provided and the materials you'll be sharing.

VOLUME THREE EXPEDITION October 2022 - March 2023 Overview: This Expedition is self-funded. I worked on the Expedition Preperation for Scotomaville Volume Three for much of October 2022 through mid-February 2023. I created video invitations, text content, and marketing materials. I signed up for Twitter after Elon Musk was approved to purchase Twitter. I made videos and flyers promoting a 'Scotomaville Conversation' and posted them to YouTube and Twitter. I have 385 subscribers on YouTube, and 8 followers on Twitter. I posted over 100 event flyers, and emailed or personally invited nearly 50 people. The two-hour events were held at the Glendale Arizona Civic Center on November 19-20, 2022. The second event was at the Oregon Army National Guard Classroom in The Dalles, Oregon on February 16th, 2023, and the third event was at the Hood River Library, Conference Room on February 23rd, 2023. The Glendale Event had no (0) attendees. The second Event in The Dalles had (9) attendees. The Hood River event had no attendees. The turn-outs were very disappointing.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - NOVEMBER 1, 2022 I Posted the video Invitation entitled "Veteran Meetup Glendale AZ" on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rb4uy58rBs4 18 views to date I emailed invitatiosn to veteran service providers in Phoenix, Veteran NGO's and individual Vets. There were zero (0) attendees at the Veteran Meetup @ Glendale, AZ Civic Center, November 19-20, 2022

VIDEO DESCRIPTION: I'm Daniel Comp, the author/curator of Scotomaville. Come to the Glendale Civic Center, in Glendale, AZ, for a Veteran Meetup on November 19-20, 2022. Your story needs to be told!

I'm a veteran, an explorer, an entrepreneur, and a father. I believe the greatest expedition you will ever undertake is the journey to self-understanding. I invite you to join me in the public debut of Scotomaville, November 19-20th, at the Glendale Civic Center, outdoors, under the canopy of our expedition Airstream.

An expedition is a journey with a purpose. I've cycled across America three times and towed an Airstreaming more than 40 thousand miles confirming that the best outcome of an expedition is not in discovering new lands, but in seeing with new eyes. I spent decades exploring to understand why we do what we do. That is point of Scotomaville.

When I concluded my Vietnam Era Navy service I was met with hostility, social rage, and shame. My military records are heavily redacted or missing. I quickly learned to hide my service to the country that should have been honored and celebrated. Today, tens of thousands of veterans struggle with similar mental challenges, and many are amplified by disabilities and external wounds.

Scotomaville is turning veteran stories upside down by demonstrating how to see with new eyes and recognize the critical part they play in shaping the beliefs, attitudes, and behavior of their friends, family, and community around them. Veterans are still on a mission. We gave sacrificially to a journey with a purpose. It turns out that storytelling is a superpower for understanding and healing.

Come share your story, sign my campaign flag, and discover with new eyes the meaning and value of your sacrifices.

Veteran Meetup @ Glendale, AZ Civic Center, November 19-20, 2022

VIDEO TRANSCRIPT: I'm Daniel comp I'm the author and the curator of this katomaville series let's get home it's a blind spot blind spots responsible taking small actions into great consequence w.h Murray is a Explorer of the Himalayan Expedition 1951 he wrote a very interesting piece talking about small actions that are large in consequence and we often do things based on a misunderstanding a false conclusion because we were not raised with mature guidance and our reactions can be overwhelming and not have the response that we want given the situation whether it's battle whether it's a business decision whether it's parenting or whether it's um where you put your feet on a glacier so large consequences out of small actions that you need to practice in advance and so most of us as men don't connect with other men we don't have guidance we don't have peer support we don't have camaraderie occasionally maybe in battle maybe in Ministry but in Normal day-to-day life no so what's the outcome I want I want someone to see that they can follow in the way that I began that they have hope of turning their beliefs upside down that their sacrifices do have meaning that they're mistakes do have forgiveness and that there is an incredibly great outcome because storytelling is a superpower and the story the story that you hear inside your head the story that you tell yourself [Music] it's so powerful and it's so manageable and you can Define it and that's what scotoma bill is about I started off blind and I found a way up a mountain [Music] and so I documented my personal Everest that I want you to understand there is hope because someone has been where you want to go I've drug my ass out of homelessness I've faced 20 years without a paycheck as an entrepreneur I've been a horrible father at times and I am an incredibly successful parent an entrepreneur that's invented some incredible things and an explorer that has Triumph one of the most impossible territories knowing why I do what I do how I'm gained and what the hell I can do about it [Music] unfortunately somebody decided to make a judgment that same day we had five rejections demands to just move our rig get out of here go somewhere else we don't care where not our problem which seemed to be really curious to me and I at first was really struggling with that I was in turmoil and then I remembered what uh first lady Eleanor Roosevelt had said right wait a minute I don't have to accept what they say and then the more I thought about it is I did maintenance on the roof for the winter and readjusted the door and puttered around all the chores that I needed to do I had a lot of time to think about why I was feeling this way and why I was thinking this way and it simply turns out I had an opportunity to see how other people can jump to a judgment without having information how they can cancel culture how they can criticize the inverse of onus prabande I say you are therefore prove yourself innocent you see they didn't have any idea of how hard we struggle to get this and how much maintenance and work it is and what the pride of ownership of the Airstream Community is about none of those things they didn't watch my channel and so I started feeling kind of sad for them why they would let their 20 watt brain go along with the popular instead of what's accurate so it sounds to me like the time that you had in the military really shaped your belief in what was possible for you and that it took you from the bottom of the class to now having an entire career path and I I feel like I was contributing and even if I helped just one veteran um down the path it was it was worth it for me to do it it doesn't matter you get a hundred views a day or anything like that it's it's just that you can you can reach out and you know how dominoes work right yeah so sometimes all you have to do is knock one Domino over yeah and the whole row goes down yeah yeah right yeah it can be a part of a flag signing proving your bravery your commitment to exploring why you do what you do for understanding the chaos really has meaning and purpose come have a conversation come explore your personal Everest at the Glendale Civic Center November 19th and 20th Outdoors in the fresh air Under The Canopy or Expedition Airstream again I'm Daniel comp

VIDEO DESCRIPTION: You have heard me say this many times across Scotomaville. My proposal is to Open Source the creation of AI for social training humans before we post to social media.

The dashboard would require a civil corpus (made by books, posts, history, etc.) so AI learns to be more humane than humans. I believe we (I certainly do) need a 'Grammarly'-like service for civil communication. I find conversational implicature slow to process, meaning I can easily misread tone, intent, etc. I am missing some wiring - or so I've been told!

Imagine your tweets having a recommendation option - based on a corpus of advice you set in your preferences. You could build a minyan to pull suggestions on the tone, humor, alarm, intention, etc BEFORE posting something to trigger someone. Over time, the user could have a military ribbon style badge signifying their bias, displayed on their profile, adjusted by factors in their posts. AUTHENTICATION and this TRANS
