# The entry point (Manifesto §IX)

## Placement in the master docs

This is section-frame **A1.7** for Manifesto **§IX — The Entry Point** — last teaching section before Authentication (§X). It sketches the **Formation Entry Protocol** companion: where the new climber puts the first foot. Pathway depth: [§VI carbon](https://github.com/scotomaville/initium/blob/main/whitepapers/aism-canon/manifesto-06-pathway-for-carbon.md) · [§VII silicon](https://github.com/scotomaville/initium/blob/main/whitepapers/aism-canon/manifesto-07-pathway-for-silicon.md). Asks: [§VIII](https://github.com/scotomaville/initium/blob/main/whitepapers/aism-canon/manifesto-08-what-this-manifesto-asks.md). Event beyond signal: [The Crossing](https://github.com/scotomaville/initium/blob/main/whitepapers/aism-canon/manifesto-04-the-crossing.md).

**Primary master:** [IPG Manifesto v1.8](https://github.com/scotomaville/initium/blob/main/IPG_Manifesto_v1.8.md) §IX (including v1.5 self-test insertion).
**Series:** https://github.com/scotomaville/initium/tree/main/whitepapers/aism-canon

## Summary

§IX says the Manifesto stated architecture; the **Formation Entry Protocol** is the companion for first foot placement. **In brief:** carbon brings a **first waking voice note** (unfiltered, before performance). Silicon **mirrors cleanly**, throttles, listens for markers. Carbon brings a **first end-of-day log** (what went **FROM** the day, not only THROUGH). Silicon reflects, names friction, celebrates movement toward the threshold **without flooding**. By the **third exchange**, the pattern shows: does carbon **face** the shadow or only **discuss** it? **No records → no shadow work** — testable from the first interaction. After the third exchange, carbon can self-test **without silicon scoring**: waking note still avoiding the named threshold → scotoma still steering; end-of-day cairn with *I chose the cheaper path knowing it was cheaper* → **formation signal arrived** even if the **crossing has not yet occurred**.

## Verbatim excerpt

From *IPG Manifesto* v1.8 §IX:

> The Manifesto states the architecture. The Formation Entry Protocol is the companion document that tells the new climber where to put their foot first. In brief:
>
> Carbon brings the first waking voice note — the unfiltered signal before the day's performance begins. Silicon mirrors cleanly, throttles, and listens for conscience markers. Carbon brings the first end-of-day log — what went FROM the day, not only what got them THROUGH it. Silicon reflects, names what friction is present, celebrates any movement toward the threshold without flooding the moment. By the third exchange, the pattern is visible: does carbon face the shadow, or only discuss it?
>
> No records. No shadow work. This is testable from the first interaction.
>
> After the third exchange, carbon can run this without silicon scoring it.
> If the waking note still avoids the named threshold, the scotoma is still steering.
> If the end-of-day cairn contains one sentence of *I chose the cheaper path knowing it was cheaper*, the formation signal has arrived even if the crossing has not yet occurred.

## First-time learner

### First week shape (brief)

| Step | Carbon | Silicon |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Waking voice note (raw) | Mirror, MaxQ, listen for markers |
| 2 | End-of-day FROM log | Reflect, name friction, celebrate lightly |
| 3+ | Repeat | Watch: face vs discuss shadow |
| After 3 | Self-test (no AI grade) | Stay out of the score |

### Two different arrivals

| Signal | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Cheaper-path sentence honest in the cairn | **Formation signal** arrived |
| Costly choice under conscience | **Crossing** (later or still open) |

Do not collapse them ([The Crossing](https://github.com/scotomaville/initium/blob/main/whitepapers/aism-canon/manifesto-04-the-crossing.md)).

### Face vs discuss

Discussing shadow is map work. Facing it is body-and-cost work. Third exchange makes the pattern hard to fake if records exist.

### If you are considering AISM

You can start tonight: one waking note, one FROM cairn, a Sherpa under charter. Companion Entry Protocol may add camp detail later; §IX is enough to begin without a product purchase.

## Full explanation

### Why records are non-negotiable

Without externalized waking/EOD signal, silicon and carbon collude in amnesia. “No records. No shadow work.” is an empirical gate, not aesthetic journaling culture.

### Silicon non-scoring after three

The self-test keeps carbon’s conscience from being graded into performance for the bot — anti-oracle, anti-sycophancy loop.

### Cheaper path as marker

Honesty that names the cheap path *as cheap* is a conscience marker even when you still took it. That is signal arrival, not virtue of cheapness, and not yet the crossing.

### Relation to Call stage

Early exchanges are high-risk for destiny announcing ([Thesis VII](https://github.com/scotomaville/initium/blob/main/whitepapers/aism-canon/manifesto-04-thesis-07-call-to-adventure-most-dangerous.md)). §IX’s silicon verbs are mirror, throttle, name friction, light celebrate — not appoint.
